Jón Stefánsson
Jón started out cutting news and news related material in his native Iceland. While attending NYU he worked on several student documentaries, some award winning. Shortly before graduating he came across a flyer from a production company that was seeking help with logging music video rushes. There was no return and Jón started cutting music videos, mostly hip-hop and R&B with some Rock and Roll mixed in. Artists include The Fugees, Common, Anthrax, They Might Be Giants, De La Soul, Brand Nubian, Onyx, Jungle Brothers, Steve Marley, Too $hort and Tricky with PJ Harvey, to name a few.

When the videos were getting close to 100 and Jón had a couple of commercials under his belt, he joined The Progressive Image Group, (PIG). There he worked on spots for Burger King and Nike, a fashion series for MTV, some more music videos and a feature documentary, "Life and Debt", directed by Stephanie Black.

When Cosmo Street Editorial opened their New York shop, Jón was the first editor on that roster. At Cosmo Street, Jón worked on spots for client such as Nike Brand Jordan, Coke, Volvo, ESPN, Truth, Reebok and Virgin Mobile.

The next stop was Filmcore Editorial. Jón worked on spots for clients such as Absolut, Walmart, ESPN's FIFA World Cup, Virgin Mobile and an Oscars® spots for Cadillac.

While at Spot Welders, Jón worked on commercials for clients such as Chevy, HSBC, PBS, Fanta, United Healthcare and IAVA,a veterans organization. While there, he also worked on several episodes of the first season of "Avec Eric", a Lifestyle/Culinary show for PBS.

Jón has been freelance since mid 2011. He has edited commercial and documentary material for Wieden + Kennedy, Y&R, KBS+, Havas, Mekanism, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, New York City Department of Education, and others. He also cut a couple of short dramatic films and a series of, yet unpublished, webisodes for Stephen Marley's upcoming new album. The webisodes are produced by COMPLEX, Stephen Marley and Stephanie Black and will be released soon on the internet.

Currently, Jón is cutting an internationally produced animated feature. Due to the nature of such projects, he is also available for other work.
